The first quarter of 2021 has shown us some interesting trends in the business finance and solutions category within the United States. Sensor Tower's data provides us with a snapshot of how the top applications have performed in terms of downloads, revenue, and weekly active users.
ADP Mobile Solutions, despite not generating revenue, saw its downloads peak at 168K in mid-January before gradually declining to around 118K by the end of March. The app's weekly active users started strong at over 3.6M and reached a high of 4.1M in mid-January, but by the end of March, the numbers settled slightly lower at approximately 3.8M.
Square Point of Sale (POS) also reported no revenue but experienced a steady increase in downloads, starting at 42K and ascending to a peak of over 51K in late March. Weekly active users showed an initial increase from 365K to 383K in mid-January, followed by a slight dip and a return to around 367K by the end of the quarter.
QuickBooks Accounting showed a different trend with its revenue starting at $223K and peaking at $311K in late February, then slightly decreasing to $248K by the end of March. Downloads displayed a similar pattern, with a peak of 43K in early March. The app's weekly active users increased steadily from 226K to around 266K at the end of the quarter.
PayPal Business had no reported revenue but its downloads saw a peak of 44K in early January, followed by a decline and then a moderate recovery to around 39K by the end of March. Weekly active users fluctuated slightly, with a peak of over 315K in early March, before ending the quarter at approximately 311K.
Shopify - Your Ecommerce Store, also with no reported revenue, had its highest downloads at 36K in mid-January, which then dropped to about 21K by the end of March. The weekly active users of the app started at over 338K and peaked at around 360K in mid-January but saw a slight decrease to around 348K by the end of the quarter.
